Tuesday, October 6, 2026 was “Act III” of France’s lycée protests: tens to hundreds of thousands marched nationwide (Interior Ministry morning count: 86,000 outside Paris; unions claimed far higher by evening), with unions and teachers joining students who for weeks have protested overcrowded classes, missing teachers, and run-down buildings. Some marches were peaceful; others saw tear gas, graffiti calling for riots, and clashes with CRS.
Political and non-French symbols showed up clearly in Act III footage: Palestinian flags in Paris crowds (franceinfo, BFMTV, France 24); solid red left-wing flags in Paris, Caen, and Le Mans; a keffiyeh in a human-chain standoff at Lycée Hélène-Boucher; and La France Insoumise candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon walking with protesters. Separately, a still photo from Oct. 1 at Lycée Jacques Decour shows a Mouvement Jeunes Communistes de France banner and a cardboard hammer-and-sickle sign. We again found no downloadable video of that exact hammer-and-sickle display; the photo is labeled as a still.
